Given the fact that it is still January and the temperatures are, quite frankly, freezing, you probably don’t want to keep your mind occupied with warmer climes.
Many people will also try to avoid thinking about further financial outlay on a trip away, especially after the expensive period that Christmas always turns into. The very fact that January is often deemed the most depressing month is one all-encompassing reason why people don’t give a second thought to future trips.

I always like to think about my future holidays to cheer me up during January. When I’m painstakingly scraping ice off my windscreen, I transport myself to wherever I’m going on my trip or holiday over the next few months.

Those dark times are winter by the way, literal dark times rather than metaphorical, psychological ones.
